Remember the Moon
It has rained ice on the snow.
Your boots crush into powder.
There is no other sound
save for your breath
and the wind.
You need to get home.
Night will come soon.
You are alone
waiting for the moon.
It will not find you here long.
You will accept its fullness
from inside your cabin window -
in front of your wood stoved fire.
It will shine on the snow.
It will show where you walked.
It will do this for you
but it will not remember.
You must remember the moon
because the moon will not remember you.
